Bulk gas facility and integrated gas detection at the Techport Common User Facility
Dematec Automation has recently finished the successful commissioning of a new BOC bulk gas facility with an integrated gas detection system at Defence SA’s Techport Australia’s Common User Facility (CUF). The gas delivery system at the CUF will be predominantly used to supply industrial gases to ASC in the construction of the new Air Warfare Destroyers.
Defence SA commissioned Dematec to upgrade the existing gas detection system to enable remote monitoring and control of the gas delivery system throughout the facility. BOC commissioned Dematec at the same time to design and install a monitoring and control system for the bulk gas facility at the CUF site.
Shiplift leading light at Techport Common User Facility
Dematec Automation designed, installed, and commissioned a Vega Leading Light arrangement for guiding vessels into the Common User Facility Shiplift (the largest shiplift in the southern hemisphere). The Leading Light tower is located on Torrens Island, directly across the Port River from the Common User Facility Shiplift. A solar powered control system with radio telemetry link is used to control and monitor the Leading Light from the Common User Facility SCADA system.

Robotic Systems
Dematec has a solid track record in Australia for the design and installation of robotic and sensing systems for the manufacturing and agricultural industries. Isaac Asimov coined the phrase “robotics” in 1941 and the short history of robots has been an exciting one at Dematec. Its expertise in software design, intelligent mechanics, sensing and electronics are aligned to provide industrial robots used to perform jobs safer, more accurately and reliably than humans and at lower long-term cost. Dematec’s systems are widely used in assembly, processing, packing, and mass production of industrial and agricultural goods. Dematec also provides operator training and an around-the-clock maintenance and servicing program.
