AUTOMATION & ROBOTICS
Automation & Control Systems
Dematec works closely with its customers to get the best solutions to their production challenges, combining advanced systems technology and innovative design with practical and cost-effective applications. The company is committed to engineering transformation through utilisation of its broad spectrum of skills in electrical design and installation, control software integration, product sensing and identification, motion control applications, and data reporting and telemetry.
Dematec will tailor automation solutions to mutually-determined specifications, timeline and budget. The client is paramount and an essential member of the One Team Methodology.
Globally, Dematec has designed and installed systems for Australian companies in the UK, China, South Africa, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

Applications
- Rollforming, metal slitting, and cut to length;
- Control and safety on industrial machines;
- Production line control and sequencing;
- Vision inspection and verification;
- Water process control.
Reference Projects
Automation of foam-filled sectional door line
- Production line exported to the UK in 2008.
- Configurable servo-controlled line with 50 product variants with different widths and patterns.
- Line able to run foam-filled dual skin sectional doors or single skin doors.
- Remote connection facility to enable support from Australia.
Bakery line controls
- Design and installation of a centralised control system for a production line with stand-alone machines and equipment.
- SCADA interface for improved diagnostics and reliability, reduced wastage from 18% of production to less than 1%.
- Installation and commissioning completed within 9 days of scheduled downtime.
Robotic Systems

Dematec has a solid track record in Australia for the design and installation of robotic and sensing systems for the manufacturing and agricultural industries. Isaac Asimov coined the phrase “robotics” in 1941 and the short history of robots has been an exciting one at Dematec. Its expertise in software design, intelligent mechanics, sensing and electronics are aligned to provide industrial robots used to perform jobs safer, more accurately and reliably than humans and at lower long-term cost.
Dematec’s systems are widely used in assembly, processing, packing, and mass production of industrial and agricultural goods. Dematec also provides operator training and an around-the-clock maintenance and servicing program.

Reference Projects
Assembly of irrigation fittings
- Automation of a previously manual process.
- 900 product variants in 7 housing sizes, stored as configurable ‘recipes’ by the control system.
- Small batch runs, 10 minute cell changeover between products by unskilled operators.
- Uses four robots with five industrial cameras to identify, locate, and pick the component parts.
- A fifth robot completes the assembly and dispenses the finished part down an exit chute.
- Four cells currently in production.
Pre-processing of vegetables
- Automation of a previously manual process.
- Removes the stalk and roots from vegetables prior to brushing process.
- Mobile and self-contained production cell designed to be transported to packing sheds on a semi-trailer.
- Uses three robots with three industrial cameras to identify, locate, and pick the product from a continuous conveyor belt.
- Product is guided through rotating saws to pre-process and placed into segmented outfeed conveyors depending on size.
Factory Networking & Production Monitoring
- Use of SCADA systems for total factory automation and data collection;
- Development of customized reports from production data for process analysis and optimisation;
